The Quietus features an excellent article about Hawkwind's Space Ritual by Joe Banks.
"Hawkwind at the height of their powers were as good as any of their German contemporaries...and they were at the height of their powers when they recorded the live album Space Ritual."
We wish to send our sincerest condolences to all of Micky Farren's friends and family, and express our deepest sorrow at the news of Micky's death, albeit, on stage at the Borderline Club, and I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted it any other way, truly a poetic departure. We knew Mick over many years, and always knew him as an inspiring, innovative and creative writer and performer. Rest In Peace Micky, long may you be remembered with fondness and admiration, from Nik Turner and Space Ritual.
The complete Outriders of Apocalypse set from Alchemy is now available to listen to on SoundCloud.
"Now here's something different! I just received the new release from The Fusion Syndicate. This band is made up of jazz, rock and blues superstars and the recording is all you could wish for in this format. Billy Sherwood, writer of all compositions and with a background of top bands as long as your arm played keys, guitars drums, synth and vocals throughout this recording. The opening track, Random Acts Of Science, has strong hints to the Mahavishnu Orchestra featuring Rick Wakeman (Yes) on keys, Jerry Goodman (Flock, Mahavishnu Orchestra) on violin, Nik Turner (Hawkwind) on sax and Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets) on bass."
The classic Hawkwind track from Xin Search Of Space, co-written by Nik, is featured in a TV advert for Ford's B-Max.
A new interview with Nik has been posted on It's Psychedelic Baby.
Thunder Rider is featured in a new 15 minute film by Andrew Cross, featuring improvised saxophone performed in the landscape of Salisbury Plain.
Project 9, formed by Nik in 2011, plays an amalgam of (more or less) all the bands Nik has formed in his musical career, past, present and future.
